Financial Education
Helping people understand money, financial planning, saving, investing and responsible financial decision-making.
Our Foundation
Community Ownership & Economic Empowerment Programme. Educating. Empowering. Connecting. Creating pathways to ownership.
The Luthando Maduna Foundation, in partnership with Stratum Financial Group, is committed to educating and empowering communities to better understand ownership, financial literacy, wealth creation and meaningful participation in the economy.
Our work is focused on helping people gain the knowledge and confidence to participate more actively in the economy and explore pathways towards entrepreneurship, investment and asset ownership.
What the programme is about
The Community Ownership & Economic Empowerment Programme is an educational and empowerment initiative designed to make financial and economic concepts easier to understand and more accessible to communities. The programme introduces participants to:
Our objective is to move the conversation beyond simply earning and spending money towards understanding how people can participate in the economy and build sustainable financial futures.
Our vision
To contribute to communities that are financially informed, economically active and increasingly able to participate in ownership and wealth creation.
Our mission
To provide accessible financial and economic education while creating pathways that connect communities with relevant knowledge, professional expertise and opportunities for greater economic participation.
Our aim
To educate, empower and connect communities so that individuals can make more informed financial decisions and understand opportunities relating to entrepreneurship, investment and ownership. We believe that education is an important foundation for reducing economic vulnerability and creating opportunities for individuals and families to improve their financial futures.
Our objectives
Educate communities about financial literacy, ownership, investment and wealth creation.
Increase financial awareness and help individuals make more informed financial decisions.
Promote economic participation by helping people understand how they can participate in the economy as employees, entrepreneurs, investors and owners.
Encourage entrepreneurship and support people interested in developing sustainable businesses.
Promote a culture of ownership and long-term financial planning.
Develop financial confidence among individuals, families and emerging entrepreneurs.
Connect communities with professional expertise and relevant financial resources.
Create pathways to opportunity for people who want to take their financial education further.
Support long-term wealth-building principles that can benefit individuals, families and future generations.
Through our divisions
Through our various divisions, the Foundation runs training and development programmes for young people and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Training covers practical business, financial and administrative skills so that participants can start, manage and grow a business with confidence. Alongside the training, we provide linkages with the markets — connecting young people and SMEs with the businesses, suppliers, customers and networks that their products and services are intended to serve.
The group’s divisions each contribute what they do best: the commercial division connects operating businesses and service providers, the technology division supports digital tools, the property division develops the spaces where businesses trade, and the financial services and asset management divisions support financial knowledge and long-term planning.
Affordable healthcare
In addressing affordable healthcare, some of the profits allocated to the Luthando Maduna Foundation are used towards providing affordable healthcare to many.
We use these funds to pay for medical bills for qualifying patients at our group hospitals, and we work with governments to improve healthcare.
Education
As an accounting firm, we also offer bursaries to qualifying students. Bursaries support young people who want to further their education and build careers in business, finance and the accounting profession.

The partnership
The partnership between the Luthando Maduna Foundation and Stratum Financial Group brings together community engagement and financial-sector expertise.
The Foundation focuses on community engagement, financial and economic education, awareness and empowerment, connecting people to relevant resources and developing community programmes. Stratum Financial Group contributes relevant professional financial knowledge and expertise within its applicable regulatory and professional framework.
Together, we seek to create an environment where communities can learn, understand, participate and explore appropriate pathways towards ownership and wealth creation.
Our contribution
Poverty is influenced by many social and economic factors and cannot be addressed through financial education alone. Our contribution is focused on addressing one important part of the challenge: building financial knowledge, economic participation and pathways towards ownership and sustainable wealth creation.
Helping people understand money, financial planning, saving, investing and responsible financial decision-making.
Helping communities understand the role that ownership of productive assets and investments can play in long-term financial wellbeing.
Encouraging individuals to explore entrepreneurship and develop sustainable businesses that can create income and economic activity.
Helping people understand the different ways they can participate in the economy — as employees, entrepreneurs, investors and owners.
Connecting participants with relevant professional expertise and information through our partnership with Stratum Financial Group.
Promoting long-term thinking around financial planning, investment, ownership and intergenerational wealth.
Building relationships with organisations, professionals and institutions that can provide appropriate education, networks and opportunities.
